Wheat Bread Rolls are made from whole wheat flour. These wheat bread rolls are perfect for any occasion and very easy to make.

Serves: 6 Bread Rolls

Wheat Bread Rolls

Ingredients:

½ cup milk
1 teaspoon sugar
1½ cup whole wheat flour
1 tablespoon dry active yeast
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 teaspoon salt
Some wheat flour for dusting

Cooking Method:

1. Dissolve the sugar in milk.

2. Heat the milk in microwave until it is lukewarm (it should be warm as baby bath water).

3. Add the dry active yeast, stir it and let it rest for proofing for 10 mins. After 10 mins you will see the foam on the top of the mix, that’s called yeast proofing and it means your yeast is active.

4. Now mix the salt with flour. Add the olive oil and add the yeast liquid to flour. Knead the wheat flour to make soft dough. Knead well for around 5-8 mins dusting some wheat flour on it.

5. Keep the dough for rising for an hour covering with cling film (plastic wrap) or just covering with the plate.

6. After an hour your wheat flour dough will be almost double in size. Knead again for a minute and make 6 equal balls. Knead these balls well and make round balls gently using your fingers.

7. Spray or grease the baking tray and place the dough balls leaving 2 inches spaces with each other. Cover the balls and leave them for another half an hour to rise.

8. Brush the milk on the top dough balls for a little glaze. Bake these wheat bread rolls at 220 degree C for 15-20 mins. You can touch them with each other leaving a tiny gap between them.

9. Take the wheat bread rolls out from the oven and let them stand for 3-4 mins. So the crust gets soft.

Serve wheat bread rolls hot or warm as a breakfast or a dinner.

Variation Tips:

Sprinkle some sesame seeds, poppy seeds, onion seeds, pumpkin seeds, etc… after brushing the milk on wheat bread rolls to get nutty flavour.

For the extra glaze melt some butter and mix with a little milk or only use melted butter to brush the wheat bread rolls.

You can even use egg white, egg yolk, cream, etc… to glaze your wheat bread rolls.
