Tamarind Chutney Recipe is made from tamarind and it is normally eaten with the chaats. Tamarind is easily available in asian grocery store in the UK.

Serves: 4 People
¾ cup tamarind, deseeded (imli)
1 cup water
¼ teaspoon red chili powder (lal mirch powder)
¼ teaspoon cumin powder (jeera powder)
½ teaspoon salt
2 tablespoon jaggery (gud)
1. To make tamarind chutney, soak the tamarind in some water and extract the paste and mashing tamarind with your fingers.
2. Boil the jaggery and tamarind paste in the water for 10 mins. Keep stirring occasionally.
3. Add the rest of the ingredients from the above list.
4. Boil tamarind chutney till it get thick. Check the stirring spoon. If there is a light coat of the tamarind chutney on the spoon, turn off the heat. Don’t worry, if the tamarind chutney still not thick enough. It will get thick after it gets cool down.
Serve tamarind chutney recipe with chaats or with snacks.
You can store in clean airtight bottle and refrigerate for about a month.
To make sweet tamarind chutney recipe add extra jaggery (almost double in quantity).
