Sev Tomato Nu Shaak (Sev Tameta Nu Shaak) is a kathiawadi recipe made with tomatoes and Sev (fried gram flour noodles) in Gujarat. Sev Tomato Nu Shaak (Sev Tameta Nu Shaak) dish is also knows as Traditional Gujarati recipe.

Sev Tomato Nu Shaak (Sev Tameta Nu Shaak)


200 gram Sev (fried gram flour noodles)
1 large onion (pyaz) – Optional
5 large tomatoes (tamater)
3 garlic cloves (lahsun)
2 green chillies (hari mirch)
½ cumin seeds (zeera)
½ mustard seeds (rai daane)
½ teaspoon turmeric powder (haldi)
1 teaspoon red chilli powder (lal mirch)
1 teaspoon coriander powder (dhania)
1 teaspoon sugar (chini)
1 tablespoon oil
1 tablespoon chopped fresh coriander leaves (taza kata dhania)
Salt to taste
Water as needed

How To Cook Sev Tomato Nu Shaak (Sev Tameta Nu Shaak):

1. Chop the tomatoes, onion, garlic and chillies. Discard the onion, if you are not using it.

2. Heat the oil in the pan and add the cumin seeds and mustard seeds. When the seeds crackle, add the chopped garlic and stir it until it get slightly golden colour.

3. Add the chopped chillies and cook it for 1 minute.

4. Now add the onion and stir and cook until it is cooked (It will be soft and transparent when it’s cooked). Follow This step, if you are using onion otherwise ignore it.

5. Add the chopped tomatoes, chilli powder, coriander powder, salt and turmeric powder stir it and cover the lid. Cook it for 5 mins.

6. Now add the water (1/2 cup or as much as you want in gravy) and sugar and simmer it for another 5 mins.

7. Now turn the heat off and add the Sev and mix it properly with the gravy.

8. Finally garnish with chopped coriander.

Serve this Sev Tomato Nu Shaak (Sev Tameta Nu Shaak) hot immediately with Chapatti or bhakhri or Rice.
