Puffed Rice Balls (Mamra Laddu) is jaggery coated puffed rice (mamra) and shaped in balls (laddu). Puffed rice balls (mamra laddu) is an easy kids recipe and snack recipe to munch anytime.

Cooking Time: Appr. 7-10 Minutes
Serves: 4-6 People

Puffed Rice Balls (Mamra Laddu)


3 cup puffed rice (mamra)
¾ cup jaggery (gor or gud)
2 tablespoon ghee or oil
Water or ghee to work on puffed rice balls (mamra laddu)

Puffed Rice Balls (Mamra Laddu)

Cooking Method:

1. Shred the jaggery (gor or gud).

2. Heat the ghee or oil a heavy bottomed pan on medium heat.

3. Add the shredded jaggery (gor or gud). Keep stirring it until jaggery is melted.

4. Keep stirring on medium heat until jaggery is start bubbling and slowly change colour to dark brown but take care about it doesn’t burn.

5. Now start adding puffed rice (mamra) stirring continuously until all puffed rice (mamra) and coated with jaggery on low heat.

6. Take few drops of water or ghee and spread in your both palm. Take a portion of puffed rice and jaggery (depends how big balls or laddu you want) press and start rolling in your hand when mixture is still hot. You have to finish making all ball (laddu) before the puffed rice and jaggery mixture cools down. If it cools down before you finish making all puffed rice balls (mamra laddu), Heat it up on low heat and start working on puffed rice balls (mamra laddu) again.

7. When the puffed rice balls (mamra laddu) gets cool, store in an air-tight container. Puffed rice balls (mamra laddu) can be fresh for 4-5 days.

Serve puffed rice balls (mamra laddu) as a snack.
