Potato Yogurt Curry With Onions is potato wedges boiled with spicy yogurt gravy and then cooked with onions and other ingredients.

Cooking Time: Appr. 40 Minutes
Serves: 2-3 People

Potato Yogurt Curry With Onions


500g potatoes
2 onions
2-3 large tomatoes
1 cup yogurt
2-3 green chillies
1 teaspoon cumin seeds
1 teaspoon turmeric powder
½ teaspoon red chilli powder
½ teaspoon cumin powder
1 teaspoon coriander powder
½ teaspoon garam masala powder
1 tablespoon tomato paste
2-3 tablespoon oil
Water as needed
Salt to taste

Potato Yogurt Curry With Onions

Cooking Method:

1. Peel the potatoes and cut lengthwise like wedges.

2. Whisk the yogurt with water, turmeric powder, cumin powder, red chilli powder and salt.

3. Boil the potato wedges with yogurt for 15 mins or until cooked.

4. Slice the onion and cut the tomatoes in wedges.

5. Slit the chillies

6. Heat the oil in a pan. Add the cumin seeds. When seeds crackle, add slit chillies.

7. Add the onion slices and cook until they are transparent.

8. Add the tomato paste and mix well.

9. Add the tomato wedges, salt, garam masala powder and cook for 3-4 mins.

10. Add boiled potato wedges with gravy and bring it to boil and simmer for 10 mins. Add some water, if you want curry thinner.

11. Finally turn the heat off and let the potato yogurt curry stand for 10 mins. Stir the potato yogurt curry well before serving.

Serve potato yogurt curry warm with chapatti, paratha or rice.

Variation Tips:

You can add garlic-ginger paste to this potato yogurt curry recipe. Add 1 tablespoon garlic-ginger paste when cumin seeds crackle and stir for 30 secs. Then follow above steps to make potato yogurt curry recipe.
