Potato Bhaji Recipe also known as Bombay Potatoes, Potato Sabji, Bombay Aloo and Aloo Bhaji. Potato Bhaji is very popular side dish. It normally can be eaten with puri and the combination of Puri and Bombay Aloo is called Puri-Shaak.

Cooking Time: Appr. 30 Minutes
Serves: 3-4 People

Potato Bhaji


5 medium size potatoes
1 spring of curry leaves (kadi patta)
1 teaspoon mustard seeds
1 teaspoon turmeric powder
1 tablespoon lemon juice
2 green or red chillies
1 teaspoon sugar
1½ tablespoon oil
2 tablespoon chopped coriander leaves
Salt to taste

Potato Bhaji

How To Cook Potato Bhaji Recipe:

1. Boil the potatoes until cooked, peel it and cut into small cubes.

2. Chop the chillies. Separate curry leaves from the spring.

3. Heat the oil in the pan and add mustard seeds. Wait until it crackles.

4. Add chillies and stir it. Add curry leaves and stir it.

5. Now add turmeric powder and salt. Cook it for a minute and add lemon juice, sugar and 1 tablespoon chopped coriander leaves.

6. Then add boiled potatoes cubes and cook for another 3-4 mins. Mash potatoes with the spoon while stirring potato bhaji.

7. Finally turn of the heat and garnish potato bhaji recipe with rest of the chopped coriander.

Serve hot potato bhaji recipe with Puri, Naan bread or Chapatti.
