Serves: 3-4 People

Paneer Potato Curry

3 large potatoes
350g paneer (cottage cheese)
2 medium red onions
1 tablespoon garlic-ginger paste
2 tablespoon tomato paste
1 teaspoon cumin seeds
1 teaspoon red chilli powder
½ teaspoon turmeric powder
1 teaspoon coriander powder
½ teaspoon cumin powder
1 teaspoon garam masala powder
3 tablespoon oil
Water as needed
Salt to taste

Paneer Potato Curry

Cooking Method:

1. Peel the potatoes and cut in cubes.

2. Chop the red onions.

3. Cut the paneer (cottage cheese) in square or rectangle.

4. Heat the oil in a pan. Add the cumin seeds. When the seeds crackle, add the potato cubes.

5. Fry them for 5 mins. with covering the lid. Let the steam water go in when you open the lid for stirring.

6. Add the chopped onions and garlic-ginger paste. Cook until the chopped onions get cooked and transparent with covering the lid. Stir in between. Let the steam water go in when you open the lid for stirring.

7. Add all spices, tomato paste and salt. Stir and cook until oil separated on sides from the spices.

8. Add a little water and bring it to boil.

9. Add the paneer (cottage cheese) pieces and simmer the paneer potato curry for 5 mins.

Serve paneer potato curry warm with chapatti, paratha or rice.

Variation Tips:

You can roast the paneer to add in paneer potato curry. Heat the non-stick frying pan and cook all paneer pieces, cook it each side until it golden brown (without oil). Soak the paneer in salted hot water for 15 mins, this way paneer will turn out soft for paneer potato curry (instead of frying paneer, roasting like this makes paneer recipes healthier).
