This Onion Potato Bake is baked onion rings and potato slices in cheddar cheese sauce with herbs.

Cooking Time: Appr. 45 Minutes
Serves: 4 People

Onion Potato Bake


7-8 large potatoes
3 large onions
2 cups cheddar cheese sauce
1 cup grated cheddar cheese
2 fresh rosemary springs
½ teaspoon dried mixed herbs
1-2 tablespoon lemon juice
2 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
Salt and black pepper to taste

Onion Potato Bake

Cooking Method:

1. Preheat the oven at 220 degree C.

2. Remove the rosemary leaves from the spring and chop them.

3. Peel the potatoes and slice them. Slice the onions in round rings and separate onion rings with each other.

4. Now take potato slices and onion rings in a baking tray. Add chopped rosemary, dried mixed herbs, extra virgin olive oil, lemon juice, salt and pepper. Mix well, so all ingredients mix with potato slices and onion rings.

5. Bake onion potato for 10 mins.

6. Take the tray out and give a good stir to onion potato bake again to mix them.

7. Pour the cheddar cheese sauce to onion potato bake.

8. Sprinkle the grated cheese to the top to cover it evenly.

9. Bake the onion potato bake for 30 mins at 180 degree C.

Serve onion potato bake recipe hot or warm as main course with your choice of side dish.

Variation Tips:

You can add other fresh herbs like chopped thyme, mint, parsley, sage, etc… to make variation in onion potato bake recipe.

If you are using tin baking tray, grease it before adding potato slices and onion rings. Just in case, sometime the onion potato bake stuck in metal trays. If you are using casserole pot or glass tray, then do not need to grease it as onion potato bake comes out clear.
