Kala Chana Curry Recipe (Black Chickpea Curry) is a simple kala chana recipe with gravy. This curry can be eatan as main or side dish.

Kala Chana Curry Recipe

Ingredients:

1 tinned kala chana
1 onion
2 tomatoes
1 teaspoon garlic-ginger paste
1 teaspoon mustard seeds
1 teaspoon chilli powder
1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
1 teaspoon coriander powder
1/2 teaspoon cumin powder
1/2 teaspoon garam masala powder (optional)
2 tablespoon oil
Salt to taste
Water as needed

Kala Chana Curry

Cooking Method:

1. Chop the tomatoes. Chop the onion.

2. Heat the oil in a pan. Add the mustard seeds. When the seeds crackle, add chopped onion and garlic-ginger paste. Stir in between to avoid onion sticking to the pan. Cook until onions are transparent.

3. Now add chopped tomatoes, chilli powder, turmeric powder, coriander powder and cumin powder. Stir well and cook until tomatoes are cooked and mushy. Stir in between to avoid spices sticking to the pan.

4. Now add the tinned kala chana and salt. Mix well and add some water (as much as you want in curry).

5. Add the garam masala powder (optional) and simmer the kala chana curry for 10 mins.

Serve kala chana curry recipe with chapatti or rice.

Black Chickpea Curry

Tip:
If you are using dried kala chana, soak them for at least 8 hours then boil them until chana cooked and mushy.
