This Jeera Aloo Recipe (zeera aloo recipe or cumin potatoes recipe) is cooked as fasting recipe but it is very delicious in taste and can be eaten as a normal potato dish.

Jeera Aloo (Zeera Aloo Or Cumin Potatoes)Cooking Time: Appr. 25 Minutes
Serves: 3-4 People

Ingredients:

7-8 medium size potatoes
2 large tomatoes
2-3 green chillies
½ inch ginger
2 spring of curry leaves (kadi patta)
¼ cup raw peanuts
3 tablespoon chopped coriander leaves
1 teaspoon cumin seeds (jeera or zeera)
2 tablespoon lemon juice
1 teaspoon sugar
1 tablespoon oil
Salt to taste

Jeera Aloo (Zeera Aloo Or Cumin Potatoes)Cooking Method:

1. Boil the potatoes until cooked. Peel and cut in small cubes.

2. Roast the peanuts and grind to make coarse powder.

3. Peel the ginger and grate it. Chop the chillies.

4. Heat the oil in a pan. Add cumin seeds. When it crackles, add chopped chillies and grated ginger. Stir for a minute.

5. Add curry leaves (kadi patta), stir it.

6. Add chopped tomatoes, salt and lemon juice. Stir well and add boiled potato cubes. Mix well alu jeera and cook for 2-3 mins.

7. Add sugar, coarse peanut powder and chopped coriander leaves.

8. Mix well and cook for another 3-4 mins.

Serve hot jeera aloo as a fasting dish or with chapatti or paratha as a normal potato dish.
