This Easy French Onion Soup Recipe is really easy to make and very delicious in taste.

Easy French Onion Soup Recipe


4 large onions
1 teaspoon butter
1 bay leaf
3-4 garlic cloves
1 tablespoon plain flour
2 vegetable stock cubes
A small handful of sage leaves
A small handful of flat leaf parsley for garnish
Water as needed
Salt and pepper for seasoning

Easy French Onion Soup

Cooking Method:

1. Cut the onions in halves and thinly slice them.

2. To make french onion soup, heat the oil and butter in a large pan. Add the onion slices and bay leaf in a pan.

3. Cover with the lid and leave to cook for about 25 mins on slow heat until soft. Give them a good stir continuously, so they don’t burn. If they look like they are sticking to the pan, just add a little more oil.

4. Meanwhile heat a small pan with a glass of water and add vegetable cubes. Bring it to boil and boil until vegetable stocks dissolve properly.

5. Chop the garlic, sage finely and parsley finely.

6. Once the onions look soft, add the chopped garlic, chopped sage and flour. Give them a good stir in. Cook for 2-3 minutes to remove any floury taste.
