Cumin Rice Recipe (Jeera Rice Recipe) is cumin flavoured rice fried in the ghee (clarified butter).

Cooking Time: Appr. 20 Minutes
Serves: 2-3 People

Cumin Rice Recipe

Ingredients:

1 cup basmati rice
1 teaspoon cumin seeds (jeera)
2 tablespoon ghee (clarified butter)
Salt to taste
Water as needed

Jeera Rice Recipe

Cooking Method:

1. Pressure cook the basmati rice with water until half-cooked and each grain separate with salt and water. You can cook basmati rice in a pan and drain access water in the drainer. Run the cold water over the rice in the drainer and leave the rice to drain. This helps rice not to over cook in the steam.

2. Heat the ghee (clarified butter) in a large heavy bottomed pan.

3. Add the cumin seeds. When the cumin seeds crackle, add the cooked basmati rice and mix well gently.

4. Cook the cumin rice (jeera rice) for a minute on low heat.

5. Finally turn the heat off.

Serve cumin rice (jeera rice) hot with choice of curry or any dal recipe.
