Cooking Method:

1. Soak the basmati rice for half an hour. Boil the rice in three cups of salted boiling water with lemon juice until three-fourth done. Drain the excess water and run the cold water to avoid getting the rice cooked in steam. Set aside.
Peel the ginger and grate it.

4. Add tinned tomatoes, chilli powder, turmeric powder and coriander powder. Stir and cook until oil is separated on sides.

5. Add the tinned chick peas, garam masala powder and salt. Mix well and cook for 3-4 mins.

6. Now spread the chick pea curry evenly with spoon in the same pan. Add the rice batch by batch and spread evenly. It will only one layer. Sprinkle the saffron strand on the top. Seal the pan keeping lid with wheat dough by sticking on the edge or keep heavy weight on the lid, so there is no escape for steam. Cook the chole biryani on high heat, keep the pan on side not in middle for 2 mins. Change the pan to other side and cook for 2 mins. Cook for a minute on leaving pan on middle.
