Chickpea Potato Patties are shallow fried curried chickpeas, potato and sweet potato patties.

Cooking Time: Appr. 20 Minutes For Boiling And 10 Minutes For Shallow Frying
Serves: 4-5 People

Chickpea Potato Patties


2 cup cooked chickpeas or 1 tinned chick peas
3 medium potatoes
2 sweet potatoes
1 red onion (Optional)
½ cup bread crumbs
2 tablespoon butter
1 tablespoon thick curry sauce
1 teaspoon cumin powder
1 teaspoon garam masala powder
1 teaspoon dried ginger powder (Optional)
1 teaspoon chat masala powder (Optional)
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1 teaspoon red chilli flakes
1 teaspoon dried mixed herbs
1 teaspoon sugar
Salt to taste
Oil for shallow frying

Chickpea Potato Patties

Cooking Method:

1. Boil the potatoes in a pan with water until cooked. Remove the skin when cool down.

2. Roast the sweet potatoes and remove the skin when cool down.

3. Remove the skin and mash the potatoes and sweet potatoes with butter.

4. Mash the chick peas roughly. Chop the red onion finely.

5. Add salt, sugar, dried mix herbs, red chilli flakes, lemon juice, chat masala powder (optional), garam masala powder, cumin powder, dried ginger powder in to the thick curry sauce. Mix well, so ingredients can mix with each other.

6. Add chickpeas, curry sauce paste and finely chopped red onions to the potatoes and knead them well.

7. Make the patties the size you want using your hands and pressing in your palm. Keep aside for 15 mins.

8. Coat the chickpea potato patties with breadcrumbs and shallow fry until lightly golden brown.

Serve chickpea potato patties hot with your choice of dip or just with plain yogurt.

Variation Tips:

You can refrigerate the patties, if you want to make the chickpea potato patties early.

You can use these patties to make veg burger recipe. Layer some salad with patty and add some sauces to make veg burger recipe.
