This Cheese savoy cabbage soup is cooked with red lentils and cheddar cheese.

Cooking Time: Appr. 20 Minutes
Serves: 3-4 People

Cheese Savoy Cabbage Soup


1 medium size savoy cabbage
1 cup Masoor Dal (red lentils)
1 teaspoon chilli powder
½ teaspoon turmeric powder
1 tablespoon tomato paste
2 tablespoon lemon juice
½ teaspoon cumin seeds
½ teaspoon mustard seeds
¼ cup grated cheddar cheese
1 tablespoon olive oil
Salt to taste

Cooking Method:

1. Wash the masoor dal (red lentils) and soak under the water for 10 mins for red lentil soup recipe.

2. To make lentil soup, Boil the red lentils with the water until it is half cooked.

3. Chop the savoy cabbage.

4. When the masoor dal (red lentils) is half cooked, add the chopped savoy cabbage to the dal. After few mins add salt, lemon juice and tomato paste.

5. Boil it until the savoy cabbage and masoor dal (red lentils) are cooked.

6. Meanwhile, heat the oil into the separate pan and add cumin seeds and mustard seeds.

7. When the seeds crackle, turn the heat off. Add immediately chilli powder and turmeric powder and stir for few secs.

8. Now add spice mix to the savoy cabbage soup. Mix well and cook this savoy cabbage soup recipe for 2-3 mins.

9. Add the grated cheddar cheese and simmer the cheese savoy cabbage soup for further 5 mins.

10. Finally turn the heat off.

Serve cheese savoy cabbage soup hot with bread rolls or as it is.
