Serves: 2 People

Breaded Mushroom


1 pack of closed cup button mushrooms
2 eggs
1 cup breadcrumbs
½ teaspoon garlic salt
1 tablespoons plain flour
½ tablespoon corn starch
¼ teaspoon crushed black pepper
Water as needed

Breaded Mushroom Recipe

Cooking Method:

1. Wash and wipe or just wipe the mushrooms to clean them.

2. Beat the eggs with 2 tablespoons water in a bowl.

3. Mix the plain flour and corn starch.

4. Mix the bread crumbs, crushed black pepper and garlic salt in a plate.

5. Now coat each button mushroom in the flour mixture (shake off the excess flour), then the egg mixture and finally in the bread crumbs. Make sure all layers are coated properly (specially the bread crumbs). You can repeat this process for double coating the mushrooms.

6. Bake the breaded mushrooms until golden brown and crispy in the preheated oven at 220 degree C. This will take around 15-20 mins.

Serve breaded mushrooms hot with any sauce or any dip.

Variation Tips:

Use the golden bread crumbs for golden colour or add ¼ teaspoon of turmeric powder to normal breadcrumbs to make golden breadcrumbs.

Homemade Breadcrumbs Recipe: use a day old dry bread to make breadcrumbs. Blend in the food processor with some dried herbs, salt and black pepper to make powder. Add ¼ teaspoon of turmeric powder while processing in food processor to make golden breadcrumbs.

You can omit egg in this recipe by making flour batter with little water. Coat the mushroom with the flour batter and then coat with the breadcrumbs. Repeat the process for double coating.
