Achari Paneer Tikka is marinated paneer (cottage cheese) in yogurt, homemade mild achar masala and green spices. Achari Paneer Tikka is perfect starter for cocktail parties.

Serves: 4 People

Achari Paneer Tikka


300g paneer (cottage cheese)
1 cup yogurt
1 green chilli
2 garlic cloves
½ inch ginger
2 tablespoon green chutney
1 teaspoon fennel seeds
½ teaspoon nigella seeds (aka onion seeds, kalonji)
½ teaspoon fenugreek seeds
1 teaspoon cumin seeds
½ teaspoon mustard seeds
1 tablespoon olive oil
3-5 wooden skewers (depends on the size of skewers)
Salt to taste

Achari Paneer Tikka

Cooking Method:

1. Hang the yogurt for an hour in muslin cloth.

2. Peel the ginger and chop it. Chop the chilli and garlic.

3. Cut the paneer in one inch thick square or rectangle shape.

4. Grind the chopped ginger, chopped chilli, chopped garlic and green chutney with hung yogurt to make smooth paste.

5. Make the coarse powder of fennel seed, nigella seeds, fenugreek seeds, cumin seeds and mustard seeds.
Combine the coarse powder, oil, salt and prepared hung yogurt together to make marinade paste for achari paneer tikka. Mix well.

6. Marinade the paneer pieces in prepare marinade paste for 30 mins. Mix them gently.

7. Soak the skewers in cold water for 20 mins.

8. Arrange the marinated paneer pieces on the skewers and grill at 200 degree C till the achari paneer tikka turns golden brown in colour from all sides.

Serve achari paneer tikka hot with mint yogurt chutney.

Variation Tips:

You can replace green chutney with green chilli pickle to make achari paneer tikka. Omit the green chilli in this case.
